MICHAEL FRALEY, Kendallville, IN - E-mail | Archives

space Michael Fraley is the editorial cartoonist for
The News-Sun and Evening Star in Kendallville, IN.

Born in the suburbs east of Cleveland, Ohio (mumble, mumble) years ago. Inspired to be an artist after meeting a sculptor as a child. I was the child, not the sculptor. He lived near my grandfather in the late 1960's. Grew up fascinated by Winsor McCay's "Little Nemo," Alex Raymond's "Flash Gordon" and Hal Foster's "Prince Valiant." Did some sports illustration for the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel in the 1980's. Book illustration for Samms (a computer publishing division of Prentice-Hall) in 1990. A comic book series (written, drawn and lettered by moi) titled "Arthur: King of Britain" for Caliber Press published in 1993-94. Have spent most of my time since then doing graphic design, web design, writing columns and drawing editorial cartoons.

Won HSPA awards for the KPC web site for 1999 and 2000, and an honorable mention from the HSPA for editorial cartooning for 2000.

I attend the Wesleyan church in LaOtto, and teach what used to be the senior citizen Sunday school class until a bunch of young hooligans disguised as people in their forties started raiding it.
